I’m Going To Be A Grandpa

I’m a lucky guy, a really lucky guy.  I’ve got three awesome daughters, all different in their own ways, but each has made, and continues to make, my wife and I awfully proud.

I just learned that my middle daughter is pregnant, and a grandson is on the way!  There’s gonna be a boy in the family . . . wow.  And I need to come to grips with the fact that my baby will soon be a mother.

So, while my wife goes shopping with her for baby stuff, I’m focused on my daughter’s health, both physically and mentally.  And, I’m going shopping for her – here’s what I’m looking at:

I bought the first gift for the gender reveal party last week – it’s a journal that allows my daughter to record every moment of my grandson’s first years.

According to Blossom & Pear, the Hello Little Love journal is designed with modern mama’s in mind, with plenty of space for images alongside each handwritten detail following her pregnancy through to your babes first 5 years.  It’s a 98 page hard back, premium linen covered journal with gold foil embossing on the cover and spine. The books internal pages are 8×10 inches, making this journal the perfect size for both documenting special moments as well as photographs.

As far as the next gift goes, I stumbled on this no-holds-barred book that describes everything she can look forward to in the coming months.  It’s called The Sh!t No One Tells You About Pregnancy: A Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Beyond by Dawn Dais.

According to the publisher, this book “is quite possibly the funniest, and most heartfelt, yet. After all, pregnancy is not all about scanning Pinterest for baby shower themes and registering for ironic onesies, and sometimes the less flattering aspects of gestation have a way of dimming a bit of that so-called pregnancy glow.  Dawn covers it all, sharing expert lists, tips, warnings, and even a series of Parent-Training Workouts designed to increase readers’ tolerance to the various indignities of parenthood, like peeing with an audience and surviving an afternoon in Chuck E. Cheese.

Next, after I learned that pregnant women are encouraged to sleep on their sides, I went shopping for a special pillow designed to be ridiculously comfortable and to minimize the aches and pains would be a perfect gift.  I found Leachco who, according to the experts, offers the best pregnancy pillows money can buy.  I bought this one:

When you’re expecting you may notice you need as much support for your growing belly as you do your back. The Back ‘N Belly® provides equal support for back and belly at the same time. There’s no need to reposition pillows during the night, simply turn from side to side. The inner contours were designed to follow the natural curved shape of your body. The Back ‘N Belly Chic design features a comfort neck curve for neck and shoulders, and a zippered removable cover for ease of use.

There seem to be a bunch of gift boxes that have all sorts of goodies that will help keep my baby relaxed, or so I hope.  I stumbled on this one, which seems pretty nice.

And, finally, she’s gonna need a diaper bag.  This one looks pretty cool.

This designer baby bag, offered by Honest Company, can be worn as a backpack or a crossbody satchel and has everything moms, dads and babies need for life on the go, including insulated pockets, an easy-clean lining and a foldable changing pad.

Well, I’m sure this is only the beginning, but I think this is a pretty good start, don’t you?
