Hunkering Down: The Living Room Concert Series

Bust lock-down blues, watch Elton John hosting “Living Room Concert for America” this weekend.

The New Venue: Your Living Room

While hunkering down the past couple of weeks, we’ve come to realize all of our neighbors are in the same predicament. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, famous or infamous, happy or sad, alone or with loved ones, we need to be at home to get through these difficult times. It is not a time to be selfish or take an undue risk; in fact, nothing could be worse.

So, with venues and bars shut down from coast to coast, some of our favorite entertainers have taken it upon themselves to do what they do best. They’re performing from the safety of their own homes filming with their personal cell phones, cameras, and audio equipment. Billboard magazine is keeping its readers informed about the latest and greatest live streams and virtual concerts to watch while at home, as well as other current events in the music world.

Living Room Concert for America

While there have been a variety of performances day in and day out, two major benefits are on tap in the coming days. This coming Sunday, March 29, at 9 pm EST, Elton John will be hosting the Living Room Concert for America, a live one-hour commercial-free special airing on FOX TV and the FOX digital platform. The special event will also be on iHeartMedia radio stations nationwide and the iHeartRadio app.

Featured performers include Elton John, the Backstreet Boys, Billie Eilish, Alicia Keyes, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mariah Carey, and Tim McGraw. Listeners and viewers will be encouraged to support two significant charities helping victims and first responders: Feeding America, which has been featured on Throomers, and First Responders Children’s Foundation.

On Monday evening, March 30, at 10 pm EST, on CBS TV, James Corden and Elton John will host a second benefit. Featured performers will be from different parts of the world, including BTS from South Korea, Andrea Bocelli from Italy, and Dua Lipa from London.  Others scheduled to appear include Billie Eilish, John Legend, David Blaine, and Will Ferrell.  Donations will be requested on behalf of The CDC Foundation and Feed the Children.
